L$ 290 Buy

Overview

  • Browse a library of prims and quickly find the shape you’re looking for.
  • Rez any prim with full permissions.
  • 216 prim shapes & 28 Categories.
  • Rotating demo of selected shape.
  • Share Prim Finder with others. Anyone can obtain their own Rezzer for free.
  • Great learning aid for builders.
  • The Rezzer can be setup to rez prims that
    1) have yourself as the creator and
    2) include your own scripts - ideal for Skidz Primz or Prim Docker etc.
  • Quote from Torley Linden of Linden Labs:
“This is like a clip-art library of advanced, edited prims. I remember Robin Linden and I discussing such a thing would make building easier— wish we had something like this built in to the UI.”

Note: Anyone can press the “Rez” button to receive a free Rezzer tool (it will automatically detect that there isnt a Rezzer tool nearby that belongs to you and offer you one). You can then use this Rezzer tool with any Prim Finder (doesnt have to be owned by you).

Getting Started

  • Step 1: Rez your Prim Finder by dragging it from your inventory to the ground.Prim Finder Photo
  • Step 2: Use the “Prev” and “Next” buttons to browse through the available prims. Optionally you can filter them using the panel of buttons on the right-hand side. In this example we’ve filtered by Flower related prim shapes.Prim Finder Photo
  • Step 3: Rez the “Prim Finder Rezzer” object by dragging it from your inventory to the ground. Roughly anywhere within 20 meters of the Prim Finder will be fine.Prim Finder Photo
  • Step 4: Click the “Rez” button.Prim Finder Photo
  • Step 5: Observe that the currently selected prim has been rezzed. You can use this prim however you like - it has full permissions.Prim Finder Photo

Note: By default, all prims rezzed will have creator “Vim Sims”. This will not prevent you from using the prims however you like. If you’d rather have your own name as creator then follow the customization instructions. Happy building!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’ve rezzed the Prim Finder but nothing is working, I don’t even see the buttons!
  • Ensure you’re not looking at the back. Rotate your Prim Finder around if so (or walk around to the other side). There’s actually a 50/50 chance of this happening because generally an object is rezzed at the same rotation as it was the previous time. This is something to be aware of when rezzing all objects from your inventory in Second Life.
  • I’ve customized my Rezzer but it gives an error.
  • Check that the name of the prim inside the Rezzer is called “shape” and not “Shape”. The name is case sensitive.
  • Why do created prims have Vim Sims as creator instead of myself?
  • This is default behaviour. It won’t prevent you from doing whatever you like with the prim(s) but if you prefer to have your own name shown as Creator then modify your Rezzer using the customization instructions.
Please note: The default creator is because of technical limitations in Second Life and is not done by design. Actually, it would probably be a security issue if this was possible.
  • There is a Rezzer by the Prim Finder, but it wont rez anything.
  • You can only use a Rezzer if it belongs to you. This also means you can leave your Rezzer on the ground without worrying about someone else coming along and using it. If there are several Rezzer boxes near a Prim Finder, only the Rezzer owned by the avatar that clicked the Rez button will be used and the other Rezzer boxes will be ignored.
  • Ensure that land permissions allow the scripts to run. Maybe you need to set the Rezzer to the correct group first. Simply wear the correct group tag before rezzing your Rezzer object if this is the case.
  • Can I share Prim Finder with other users?
  • Yes, anyone can use the Prim Finder. They must place their own Rezzer nearby but those are free to obtain - the Prim Finder will hand one out if it doesnt detect one nearby that belongs to you.
  • Can my whole team rez prims with the same Creator?
  • Yes. For example, if you wanted all team members to rez prims showing yourself as Creator then you’d do that as follows. Customize your own Rezzer (if you havent aleady done so) so that rezzed prims show yourself as Creator - see instructions for that. I highly recommend naming your Rezzer so it includes your avatar name, eg “Rezzer (Joe Bloggs)” - this avoids confusing it with uncustomized Rezzers in your inventory, and also prevents team members confusing it in their own inventory. Now, send a copy of your Rezzer to each team member by dragging it from your inventory onto their Profile page. Each member then places the Rezzer they received on the ground near the Prim Finder. So with this setup you’ll end up with just one Prim Finder display board and five little Rezzer boxes nearby. When any of the team members presses the Rez button on the Prim Finder, the prim will be rezzed and it’ll always show yourself as creator.
  • I have another Second Life account (known as an “alt”). Can I always ensure the Creator of rezzed prims shows the avatar from my main account?
  • Yes. See the answer to the previous question. It’s essentially the same situation.
  • Can I give a Prim Finder as a gift?
  • Yes. There is a transferable gift option on the vendor. Note that the Rezzer tool is identical for both transferable and copyable versions, so can be used with either.
  • The Prim Finder and/or Rezzer box appear dim, why is that?
  • Try switching to noon time. The menu option is World > Force Sun > Noon.
  • Ensure the following menu option is NOT ticked: View > Beacons Always On.
  • I have ideas for making Prim Finder even better.
  • Great! Please leave your ideas in the Suggestion Box which you’ll find in the store.
  • I didn’t receive my Prim Finder!
  • If you purchased the copyable version then this isn’t a problem. Just ask me for another copy.
  • I’ve lost my Prim Finder!
  • If you purchased the copyable version then this isn’t a problem. Just ask me for another copy.
  • Can I deed the Prim Finder to a group?
  • Yes you can. A Prim Finder can be owned by anybody, even a group, and anyone else will still be able to operate it. Note that the owner of the Rezzer is still enforced for security reasons, but this is not an issue because each avatar using a Prim Finder needs to have their own Rezzer nearby anyway. The Rezzer is free to obtain.

History

  • Version 1.3
    • The scripts have been reworked to use one 10th the overhead. It’s much less laggy now and uses a fraction of the total scripts. Ideal if you like to leave your Prim Finder rezzed in world.
    • There’s now no moving parts in the display board. The demo prim uses smooth client-side rotation and the filter panel is made visible/invisible using a single scripted controller instead of sliding in/out using multiple scripts.
    • The grid display uses an efficient 2 cells per script setup instead of 1 cell per script.
    • Few minor tweaks. The info button gives a link to our website.
  • Version 1.2
    • Made Prim Finder copyable instead of transferable. This means it cant be sold on to other people or given as a gift, but it does mean that if Second Life throws a tantrum you don’t have to worry about losing your Prim Finder! It also means you can obtain updated versions automatically.
  • Version 1.1
    • Modified the Rezzer tool so that rezzed prims automatically purge the script - the dialog menu has been removed. This makes it less hassle to use and doesnt get in the way of any of your own included scripts such as those from Skidz Primz or Prim Docker etc.
  • Version 1.0
    • Initial Release.
